WIN A BLIZZARD A DAY FOR A YEAR
Hi everyone! Yes, that’s right. You have the chance to win 365 Blizzards! And no, you don’t have to eat one a day — although I’d sure like to try!
All you have to do is write about your favorite Dairy Queen experience in 150 words or less. And we all have one, so don’t be shy. Then on JULY 1st (yeah I changed the date), I’ll announce the winner right here on my blog.
If you’re needing a little inspiration, you might want to head on over to your neighborhood DQ and order a Dilly Bar, Catherine Grace’s favorite, and I promise you’ll find those winning words!
Just post your entry on my BLOG and it will come straight to me.
Good Luck!

When is the deadline..and where do we send the 150 word experience? Do we just type it here in the comments?

In 1967 the Dairy Queen was one of very few restaurants in the southern Illinois town of McLeansboro (pop. 3,000). (Did I just call the DQ a restaurant?) My girlfriends and I stopped in most afternoons after school for a dipped cone, Mister Misty or maybe a Coke. Those are wonderful memories to this day; however, I will never forget the July evening that summer when the owner, Mr. Goodrich, hired “The Stingrays”, the hottest rock band in the area, for a parking lot dance. Mother made floral, hip-hugger pants for my sister and me to wear with our new poor-boy T-shirts. I never felt cooler than I did on that hot July night, copying the latest American Bandstand dances, and stopping only long enough to cool down with an occasional Coke or Mister Misty.

I loved your book!! I can’t believe you want Dairy Queen moments…I have quite a few. My sister worked at our local DQ back in 1980 something or other and every night in the summer she would have to clean out the ice cream machine and bring home soft serve ice cream when she got off at 11:00 p.m. I can’t tell you the countless times that my three sisters and I would sit up late waiting for her to come home with the “goods”. And then there was the time when I was in 6th grade and I kissed my first boyfriend in the girls bathroom with the lights out!! I forgot all about that time until I was reminded by you and your book. Ahhhh, good times!! Thank you for sharing a part of Catherine Grace Cline with us. We still have our DQ here in Gilmer,TX, pop. 5,000, and I find myself taking my two girls there for the ice cream treats and vanilla cokes from time to time.
Good Luck and write more.
